Last whole day

Who knew that we would fall in love with Hawaii this much? We’ll be missing this life when we go back to TN.  Somebody is ready for travel (without pants) So, this morning, Bo woke up and said he wants to teach Meg how to make pancakes. After a couple mornings of pancakes making, Meg got a little jealous of Bo’s anttention and she also wants to learn how to make pancakes. So Bo got excited about teaching her. John had a meeting first thing in the morning, so we had to wait, but Bo was being patient and we waited until Papa finishes his meeting. Bo ended up to be a good teacher and Meg did an awesome job making pancakes. Now I got two extra chefs in this house. I might not have to get out of bed in the morning lol This is one thing we will leave here. Hawaiian checkers. Kids collected lava rocks and corals to make pieces. Hawaiian volcano goddess Pele will be upset with us if we take any lava rocks out of Hawaii because those are considered as her kids, so we will leave these ...

Packing up is not easy

Image
I can’t do much shopping or cooking anymore since we are trying to empty the refrigerator, and we still have 3 more days so I cannot pack clothes, so I’m bored. Nothing much to do. I want to eat huli huli chicken one more time though, which will be open only tomorrow, and hopefully sushi bento box from the Kitchen Umeko before leaving. Haha, I’m talking about eating all the time.   Rest of Bo’s cookie dough got to be baked, so we baked the rest of it today. The dough itself has very mild flavor, but we figured out that we coat it with powder sugar, it makes great treats.  Let Papa tried his cookies. It’s pretty good! Cacao beans roasted. Bo is working on crushing them into powder. They are making video about Hawaii life. We’ll share once it’s officially finished.  We have to eat around John’s meeting/interview schedule. We can eat whenever and let him eat whenever, but I prefer we eat together. Today he had 3-4 meetings and one of them should be from 12:30-1-30. He said h...

Laid back Monday

Well, shoot, the order of the pictures are again in the reverse order. So, we played card games after diner and we had meat sauce pasta for dinner. We are getting to wrap up to go home, so we are trying to eat up everything in the refrigerator and the shelf. They are California wines featuring about Hawaii.  It was so-so. We sun dried the cacao beans we opened & cleaned from the cacao pod we purchased at the farmers market a week ago. John thought they are dried enough so we need to roast them. I stick them in oven in about 25 minutes to see what happens. They are definitely dryer and somewhat crispyier, which probably would be easier to guide them into powder. It’s about time, I’m gonna start packing our suitcases Kids play with a mini block set they got from a dollar shop we went to in Hilo This is what we bought from a dollar shop in Hilo. It’s called Daiso. I think they are originally a Korean company, but it’s very popular in Japan. It’s technically a dollar shop, bu...

Morning hike

Image
John wanted to go to jogging this morning. He enjoyed jogging with Meg like a week ago, so he wanted to invite Meg. And he thought maybe me and Bo can join them by walking behind them. Well, there was two routes we could try. One is a neighborhood block on either paved or gravel road for about 3miles. The other one is a hike in the forest. We got different opinions for which route we should try this morning, and unfortunately, after too long discussion (John wanted to start), we decide to go the neighbor route, even though Meg wanted to go the nature hike. Im glad we noticed that she needs practice more for discussion, debate, and convincing others, without being emotional. She has a natural leader feature without a doubt, but maybe because of that, she hasn’t had much practice to be patient when people are not easily agreeing with her. Poor Meg was not happy about it but she sure can exchange her anger power into her jogging speed. We need to assign her up for the jogging team a...
