Driving back to Fern Forest

Our lovely wall-less airport, Kona. At some part they even don’t have roof either. But it works fine in Kona I guess.  We took a north route this time since we’ve never tried. It’s little longer, but we depart from Kona around noon, so we sure would have enough time to get back to Chris’s cabin before dark, at least that’s what we thought. This is inside of the airport.  Resort shopping area John’s nose is pointing Maui island Passing by cute old towns Statue of King Kamehameha I at his birthplace.  We got hungry so stopped by at local restaurant. It was a great hit! If you go to see King Kamehameha’s statue & his birthplace, you should stop here.  Carne asada tacos Fish tacos Beautiful ranch. We could see the green grass waving. We see the true “green” color in nature. We stop by at most of lookouts. Waipi’o look out of the bay reminded me the hometown of Disney movie character Moana.  Interesting warnings We saw some of whales There are so many woods of eu...

Parents left and Back to the Big Island

Well, so today is the last day with my family. I woke up around 4 AM as usual, wrote the previous blog. Suitcases were mostly packed. Everybody’s changes were out, so all they needed to do after waking up would be get dressed & pack pjs.   Before left, Ayako told me that there’s a purse she was interested in, but didn’t have a chance to grab it, so I decide to get it for her. After all, she left some US dollar with us saying we can use them to buy some stuff. The place she wanted the purse from is called Dean & Deluca , known as an awesome bakery and café with fancy other items for sale. Super popular for Japanese people for souvenirs that some of them has the store & Hawaii name on it. Since it’s a bakery, I decided to grab breakfast for all of us. Goodness it was a great decision! Super delicious baked goods! I got some sweet & savory foods and coffee too, and visited parents room  to let them pick first. They got egg sandwich and ham&egg croissant...

Last full day in Honolulu

Last full day in Honolulu. I had a big bag of laundry to do, and parents said they have some, so I went to their room to receive theirs so I can wash for them. Dad said mom was still sleeping, and poor thing, he loves to go out and stuck in hotel room not to leave her alone. We decided to take him out to breakfast right around the corner from our hotel. He hesitated but I told him that mom was still sleeping and she didn’t need that close attention. The restaurant John found was awesome! And the potion was huge too lol Next time you go to Waikiki, I recommend Castro’s .  Laundry was done after breakfast, so we head out to Polynesian Culture Center, just 4 of us. My dad really really wanted to go to this one. He’s interested in different cultures, and the Kualoa Ranch in Kaneohe on the way there is the perfect spot for the horseback riding he’s been dreaming about for his life. He said “next time we come back”. I really hope so.  There are way too many things we wanted to visit...
