Pu’uhonua o Hōnaunau national historic park

 We decided to have a field trip! Visiting Kona side, which is the other side of the island and would take about 2 hours. Pu’uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historic Park. One of the national parks we can use Meg’s 4th grade card.  We left after breakfast. Bo is in the stage that he doesn’t want to look cute in the picture. I told kids that we’ll have a road trip, so they could pack things to do in the car.  South route has some beautiful scenic spots! I wanted to stop at Naalehu for garlic shrimp and malasada, but the garlic shrimp truck was not opened yet, so we had to find different place. This place had garlic shrimp and they are fried, and super yummy!! I stopped by at the fruits stand on the way. The lady there thought I’m Chinese, which is fine, we all look same, but I told her I’m Japanese and said arigato, but she still tried to talk to me with Chinese words she knows. She said xie-xie (thank you) and ku-ai (cute). I remember those words from Taiwanese friends back in...
